Intel Developer Forum, San Francisco, August 18, 2008

LPI is a regular contributor and event "co-locator" with the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in both China and San Francisco. This summer LPI will participate at IDF San Francisco as a trade show booth, exam lab and a panel discussion on "Linux certification and Developers."

Certification Exam labs will be offered at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on August 18, 2008 at the San Francisco Marriott Hotel (located across the street from the Moscone West Convention Center). Attendees of the Intel Developer Forum and others may take any of the LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 exams or the LPI-302 exam at $75 each (regularly priced at $155 each) or $100 for the LPIC-3 exam (regular price is $200). Interested participants should pre-register with us and indicate which exams they are taking and at which time. All exam candidates must obtain an LPI ID and are asked to bring valid photo identification and their LPI-ID number to the exam labs. Payment for exams can be made by cash, cheque or credit card.

LPI representatives and others will also host a special presentation and discussion on “Linux Certification and Developers – Industry Feedback Special Session" at 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on August 18, 2008 at the Marriott Hotel. This presentation will focus on the value of Linux certification for the developer community and how it may serve the workforce development of this type of IT professional. The participation, feedback and input of all Intel developers and other IT professionals attending the Intel Developer Forum are welcome during these presentations and discussions.

LPI candidates and alumni may make use of a special discount code for IDF registration: see Special Opportunity to Attend IDF and Take the Linux Certification Exams at the IDF website. During the Intel Developer Forum, LPI will host an information booth: #435 (directly across from the "Embedded Zone").

LinuxWorld San Francisco (August 4 -7, 2008)

Many thanks to LPI alumni and registered candidates who attended LinuxWorld Expo in San Francisco (August 4 -7, 2008)!

Highlights:

New Information Kiosk:

Our new centrally-located information kiosk at the registration area of LinuxWorld Expo proved to be a popular alternative to our traditional booth presence on the exhibit hall floor. As always the LPI "Tux" was especially in-demand!

SAC and TAC:

LPI hosted a highly successful Strategic Advisory Council (SAC) meeting during the week of LinuxWorld Expo. Congratulations to James Stanger (Chairperson, Strategic Advisory Council, LPI) for facilitating an "interactive" meeting. Community members also provided valuable input into our exam development program during the Technical Advisory Council (TAC) meeting.

Hope to see you again next year at LinuxWorld!
