Cooperation aimed at driving Open Source adoption

vendor neutral Linux* certification and Novell, developer of the widely
acclaimed Linux distribution, SUSE® Linux Enterprise, announced a series
of initiatives to promote Linux professional credentials and the global
adoption of Open Source software. In particular, LPI welcomed the
cooperation of Novell on the development of LPI's upcoming
enterprise-level certification program: LPIC-3.

changing the organization's "Recertification Policy" to ensure that the
skills and knowledge of Linux professionals continues to be relevant and
current. Candidates who have earned LPIC certifications will have to
re-certify every five years or alternatively earn a higher certification
status. Previously recertification was only required after ten years.

Linux certification organization, announced an improved training partner
program for Linux training organizations around the world. The LPI
Approved Training Partner program (LPI-ATP) has 124 participating
training organizations in 22 countries.

exams to attendees of LinuxWorld Conference & Expo Cologne 2006 at 11:00 and
15:00 on November 14-16, 2006. Exams will be available in German and English
and include all LPIC-1 (101 and 102) and LPIC-2 (201 and 202) exams,
both MySQL 5.0 certification exams (administrator and developer) and the
Ubuntu Professional exam. This will be the first time that the Ubuntu
Professional exam will be offered at a LinuxWorld event in Germany.

Ubuntu Professional exam.
(Utrecht, Netherlands: October 12, 2006) - The Linux Professional
Institute (LPI), (http://www.lpi.org), the world's premier Linux
certification organization successfully hosted the first "beta" exams
for the LPIC-3 certification program at LinuxWorld Utrecht October
11-12, 2006. The LPIC-3 certification is scheduled for release in
January 2007. Over a dozen Linux professionals from the Netherlands and
Germany volunteered for the test development event at LinuxWorld
Utrecht. Similar "beta" LPIC-3 exam events are scheduled in 2006 for
Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Japan, South Africa, UK, and the USA
and will involve over 300 Linux professionals.

and Research (UNITAR: http://www.unitar.org) Symposium on Free and Open Source
Software on August 29, 2006 at the United Nations Headquarters in New
York City, USA. The Symposium, entitled "Alternative Technologies for
Development: A Look at Free Open Source Software (FOSS)" is organized in
collaboration with Intel Corporation and the UN Conference on Trade and

certification organization announced the launch of an employment and
contract matching service for Open Source Professionals who are
registered on LPI's internal exam candidate database. The program will
match IT professionals with Open Source skills with listing employers
and contract opportunities. The program will be piloted in North
America, Latin America, China, India and Germany.
