Linux Professional Institute 2022 Board Election Results
The Linux Professional Institute (LPI) announces the results of the 2022 Board of Directors elections, ending on June 25th at 1330 UTC. Â Kenneth Armstrong of LPI staff was the Returning Officer.
In 2021 LPI had its first election of the Board of Directors, which resulted in ten Board members.
In alphabetical order they were:
- VM (Vicky) Brasseur – USA
- Duffy Fron – USA (current)
- Dorothy Gordon – Ghana (current)
- Jon “maddog” Hall – USA (current)
- Klaus Knopper – Germany
- Mark Phillips – USA
- Uirá Ribeiro – Brazil
- Torsten Scheck – Germany (current)
- Bryan J Smith – USA (current)
- Thiago Sobral – Brazil
These Board members were then ordered by the number of votes they received in the preferential election and the board members were allowed to pick the length of their term, either three, two or one year.
Torsten Scheck, Bryan Smith and BM (Vicky) Brasseur all received one-year terms, so in 2022 their seats were available for filling.
Torsten and Bryan both chose not to run for another term, and Vicky chose to run again.
LPI had a slate of five candidates (including Vicky) for the three slots.

- Ricardo Prudenciato
A Preferential method of voting and deciding the winner was used:

Ricardo Prudenciato 12.0 votes (31.6%)
After round 1, VM (Vicky) Brasseur and Ricardo Prudenciato were elected for reaching the quota of 9.5 votes each.
38.0 votes tallied and 4 abstentions

Michinori Nakahara 6.3 votes (17.0%)
Emmanuel Nguimbus 7.93 votes (21.4%)
Brett Boyden 4.29 votes (11.6%)
VM (Vicky) Brasseur 9.26 votes (25.0%)

After round 2, Brett Boyden was eliminated for not reaching the quota of 9.26 votes.

After round 3, Emmanuel Nguimbus was elected for reaching the quota of 8.86 votes.
35.42 votes tallied and 4 abstentions
Round 4
Emmanuel Nguimbus 8.86 votes (33.2%)
VM (Vicky) Brasseur 8.88 votes (33.3%)
Ricardo Prudenciato 8.91 votes (33.4%)
After round 4, Emmanuel Nguimbus, VM (Vicky) Brasseur, and Ricardo Prudenciato were elected for reaching the quota of
6.66 votes each.
26.65 votes tallied and 4 abstentions
These three board members:
- VM (Vicky) Brasseur
- Emmanuel Nguimbus
- Ricardo Prudenciato
will serve a term of three years starting on July 26th, 2022 at 1330 UTC. Â Until that time VM (Vicky) Brasseur, Torsten Scheck and Bryan J. Smith will continue to serve.
This result allows a continuity between the current board and the newly reconstituted board.
