Activities at the 35th Technical College Program Contest in Nara

On October 19–20, 2024, the 35th Technical College Program Contest (“ProCon”) was held in Nara, Japan. This event brought together technical college students from across Japan to showcase their daily learning achievements in a contest focused on creativity and technical feasibility within the field of information and communication technology (ICT). ProCon features three divisions: the Theme Division, Free Division, and Competition Division. In the Theme Division, participants develop applications based on a designated theme.

This year, around 300 students representing 20 teams that had successfully passed the national qualifiers participated in the competition. The LPI Japan Chapter, in collaboration with platinum partner Universal Shell Programming Laboratory, Inc., contributed to the event by promoting Linux and LPIC awareness and education. To enhance participants’ understanding of Linux and LPIC, we organized quizzes and offered a “Tux-kun” penguin mascot, the symbol of Linux, as a reward for correct answers. Additionally, we distributed materials that highlighted the importance of fundamental technology, the role of Linux, and the advantages of global certification to support the advancement of IT skills.

The LPI Japan Chapter, in partnership with the Universal Shell Programming Laboratory, will continue to support the growth of technical college students, who are future leaders in the field, and strive to nurture professionals equipped to make meaningful contributions to society.
