New Portal For Learning Materials

Get Concentrated Knowledge For Exam Preparation at learning.lpi.org

With learning.lpi.org, the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) has created a new central contact point for LPI exam preparation. The portal will continuously provide free learning materials for teachers, learners, and partners. learning.lpi.org started on August 27 with preparation materials for Linux Essentials. More content will follow soon.

“The LPI attaches great importance to the fact that exam candidates can freely determine their learning materials and paths,” explains Fabian Thorns, Director of Certification Development at Linux Professional Institute. “The purpose of the portal is to significantly simplify access to knowledge by pooling all known resources in one place. This involves learning materials targeted towards our certifications on the one hand, but also third-party materials and content from the Publishing Partner Program on the other. “learning.lpi.org is to become the central point of contact for everyone preparing for an LPI exam,” says Fabian Thorns.

Dr. Markus Wirtz, Manager, Education Programs describes how this will look: “The learning materials follow the learning objectives of the respective exam in structure and, in addition to the thematic requirements, also take their weighting into account. As you can already see from the materials for Linux Essentials, they offer short teaching units with a clear structure, from theoretical basics, to guided and open exercises, to their solutions.”

“The study materials provided at learning.lpi.org are created in a worldwide network of open source and Linux specialists”, explains LPI Managing Director, G. Matthew Rice. The learning.lpi.org project provides the infrastructure, quality control, and publication. This ensures an open development process with the community and the required quality.

The source language for all learning materials is English. Translations into other languages are planned and are already in progress for German and French. If you would like to participate in writing, proofreading, or translating, you are cordially invited. “We are happy to welcome supporters who have very good knowledge of Open Source and Linux and who work with Git and AsciiDoc files. You can contact us at learning@lpi.org,” says Dr. Markus Wirtz.

A further component of learning.lpi.org is the intensive cooperation with publishers, platforms, and authors. “To this end, we have launched the LPI Publishing Partner (LPP) program,” explains Fabian Thorns. “It gives our publishing partners access to the worldwide network of Linux specialists and allows learners to benefit from reliable sources for exam preparation.” Additional information on the program is available at learning.lpi.org.
