The University of Central Lancashire, Cyprus (short UCLan Cyprus), is located in Pyla, Larnaka. The University is an Academic Partner (LPI AAP) of LPI and students at this University already have trainings to get the LPI Linux Essentials and the LPIC-1 certifications. In late october last year Klaus Behrla, VP, Business Development Europe and George Thrasyvoulou, Master Affiliate Manager Cyprus of LPI visited the University.
During their visit, both executives met with the UCLan Cyprus Rector, Dr Melinda Tan, and the Head of the School of Sciences, Dr Irene Polycarpou, as well as with Academics in the Computing Department. Among other things, the three sides had a detailed discussion on how they can enhance their existing collaboration and have identified key areas to implement in the near future with the aim to improve UCLan Cyprus Computing graduates’ employability. Such areas include strengthening the existing UCLan Cyprus Computing course with LPI learning materials; integrating into the UCLan Cyprus Computing course Linux and open source curriculum; aligning specific UCLan Cyprus Computing modules with LPI Linux Essentials exams; offering Linux courses at the UCLan Cyprus Cisco Networking academy; and offering LPI 102 and 102 exams for LPIC-1, LPI LPIC-2 and LPIC-3 exams. The three sides have also discussed the possibility for the development of a Linux and open source lab at the UCLan Cyprus campus with the support of LPI and GTP Computrain Ltd. All parties look forward to a fruitful collaboration.
